If you wish to increase your productivity and free up more time to spend however you wish, you can use this phenomenon to your advantage. Just implement a simple strategy often called “timeboxing”. When you have an overwhelming task, a tedious task, or anything in between…
- Estimate how much time it will take you to complete the task to a satisfactory level. Err on the side of making yourself rush a little bit.
- Now, set a timer for that amount of time.
- Go to work, and don’t stop until the timer rings. Focus, and don’t bother checking the timer. It will ring when the time is up.
- Do everything in your power to reach your self-imposed deadline. If your estimate was off, take a short break, and then repeat the process.
You’ll find yourself getting the dishes done in half the time it usually takes. You’ll demolish procrastination, distraction, perfectionism, and time wasting. This really works! Try making it a vital behavior in your change plan.
